Someone Special

I can't believe it is almost a year since I uploaded anything into my blog! I think the last one was my granddaughter's 21st and now she is almost 22!

This is a card I designed for a very dear friend of mine last year - a nice lacy design mat laid over a scalloped base card.  I found this pleasing to do and my friend loved it.  The studio template for this card is shared on UKS as usual.

21st key with popup insert

I cannot believe my eldest granddaughter will be 21 next month - it doesn't seem five minutes since I was designing a sweet sixteen card for her!  I spent a long time fiddling with this one to get it how I wanted it, the popup insert especially gave me a few problems, but I am reasonably happy with the way it looks now and I know she will like it.  As usual the template is freely shared on the UKS site.  My nephew has his fortieth in February and I am working on something suitably masculine for him!  I'm not so keen on men's cards - no ribbons, bows or beads!!

Square ribbon card with circular topper

Deco card with lady silhouette

I designed this card for my niece's birthday last November.  The silhouette has been created from an old family photograph taken in the 1920's of my late father's cousin, a rather elegant lady!  I have glued a white feather behind her which gives quite a nice effect.  It's not my usual style of card, but it never hurts to try something different!

Dove and rose window sympathy card

My dearest sister lost her long and hard fought battle in October 2012 and this is the card I designed to give to her family.  The colours I used were muted so unfortunately the photo doesn't show it up too well. It was an unbearably sad occasion and I still can't believe she has gone.  The template is freely shared on the UKS site.

Circle swing card

This was my first attempt at a swing card, took me ages to work it out, but was reasonably happy with it in the end.  I think it needs to be made with quite a substantial card - I used 250 gsm for this and 160 gsm for the lacy overlay but I did feel it was just a little unstable.  As it was for a little girl's birthday I put the rose fairy in the centre.  The template for the card and overlay are on the UKS site.

Oval swing card

This was a bit of a labour of love!  I was quite pleased with it in the end though!  It was my second attempt at a swing card - I shall post the first attempt which was a circular swing which I did for my great niece's birthday.  I think this oval one will be for my niece who has a birthday coming up in November.  Designed in silhouette studio and cut on the cameo, the cutting file is on the UKS site as usual.
